We visited the Remington area this morning.
We did not see any Upland Sandpipers--probably procrastinated too long before
making the trip.
But, we did see one American Golden Plover along Grassdale Road. It was in the
third field on the right hand side of the road. I got a half-way decent picture
using a Nikon Coolpix 4300 with a Kowa Adapter for our Kowa scope.
Also from along Grassdale Road and looking towards the military installation,
we did enjoy seeing upwards of five American Kestrels, some of whom appeared to
be juveniles, and at least one Red-headed Woodpecker in the woods that border
the military installation.
At the turf farm, we saw Eastern Meadowlarks. And from the spot along Newby's
Shop Road (as noted in an earlier post) we saw only Killdeer.
An unexpected treat was a Blue Grosbeak on a wire about 50 yards north of the
Kelly's Ford Road/Route 651 intersection.
