1630 to 1755 EDT: scoping W flats from base of sound wall at W end of
apartments, from Stone (GW Parkway) Bridge; E flats from bridge; then W
flats again from bridge and base of sound wall;
27 to 26 C; variable overcast to hazy with moderate glare on flats in
direction of sun; SSW 25 to 15 km/hr; low tide 1500; still some flats
and the main bars exposed to E when I left;
# East of GW Parkway / # W of Parkway;

American Black Duck - / 2
Mallard 10 / 28
Double-crested Cormorant - / 1
Great Blue Heron 7 / 1
Great Egret 2 / 3
Bald Eagle 2 (ad) flying about & standing on E flats
Osprey 1 / 3
American Golden Plover - / 1 (juv)
Killdeer - / 3
Greater Yellowlegs 2 / 2 (probably the same birds)
Lesser Yellowlegs - / 1
Semipalmated Sandpiper - / 1
Laughing Gull 1100 / 670
Ring-Billed Gull 875 / 210
Herring Gull 6 / -
Great Black-Backed Gull 1 / -
Caspian Tern 24 / 2

The American Golden Plover, Killdeer, and Semipalm Sandpiper were not on
the E flats when I first scanned them. The plover evidently flew in
while I was counting birds to the East. I first spotted it while going
through the Laughing Gulls that were scattered across the W flats; the
Killdeer and Semipalm Sand arrived later.
