Today (Tues. May 27) four members of the Blue Ridge Birders group
consisting of Katherine Higgins, Bill & Margaret Dunson and myself
birded the Whitetop Station area and Whitetop Mountain this morning.
At the Whitetop Station pond area we found 3-4 singing Alder & 1-3
Least Flycatchers (the Willow found there last year was not heard
this morning). On top of Whitetop Mtn. we found singing Magnolia,
Yellow-rumped, Chestnut-sided and Canada Warblers. Also found were
Veery, Hermit Thrush & Red-breasted Nuthatches. This is the second
year in a row we have found multiple singing Alder Flycatchers at
this location. All these birds were seen in Grayson County, VA.
