I was leaving work at UVa Wednesday 1/21 at 4:30 p.m. and saw an unusual
bird fly over Rugby Rd. It lit in a tree over Madison House. My raptor-ID
skills are still in beginning stages, and of course I was scopeless, but
the bird posed for 10 minutes or more while deciding what to eat next.
Under such circumstances, I am reasonably sure it was an accipiter, a first
for me inside the city.
