VA-Birders,
For the 10 NVBC members on our bird walk at Fort C. F. Smith Park,
Arlington, this morning, the highlights included 7 species of sparrows. We
had one each of Vesper, Chipping, and Field Sparrows, 3 Fox Sparrows, several
Song and White-throated Sparrows, and a flock of at least 24 Dark-eyed
Juncos. We also had a pair of Ospreys, a pair of Red-shouldered Hawks, a
displaying pair of Northern Flickers, and an Eastern Phoebe. The
Sharp-shinned Hawk that flew over as I was about to get into my car to leave
made a total of 40 species for the morning.
