VA Birders,
This morning there were 12 birders at the New York Monument area of Bull Run
National Park off of Route 29 in Manassas, VA. There was great birding from
6:30 to 8:00 am, when I left, with lots of migrants coming thru now.
Highlights included YELLOW THROATED VIREO, MAGNOLIA, BLACKBURNIAN, PINE,
BLACK AND WHITE, YELLOWTHROAT, and CANADA WARBLERS. There was also a COMMON
RAVEN gliding over the fields. I thought this unusual, this is the first
time I have ever seen one here, or this far east. However, I after reading
Father Johns email, it made sense: the hay had been recently cut in the
fields there at Bull Run, and the Raven was hunting for mice. (Now this is
the kind of Sunday sermon I like!)
Good birding!
