[va-bird] 45 species at New Quarter Park , 8/26/06

Virginia birders!

Bill Williams from the Williamsburg Bird Club and William and Mary's Center
for Conservation Biology lead 11 birders around New Quarter Park this
morning between 7 and 10:30. New Quarter Park is in York County near
Williamsburg and the Colonial Parkway. It overlooks Queen's Creek and the
York River.

Bill spotted a Clapper Rail in the marsh on Queen's Creek. The bird
cooperated long enough for everyone to get a glimpse in Bill's scope.

Preliminary total # of species = 45, including 2 Yellow-throated Warblers
and a Magnolia Warbler. The neotropical migrants are just beginning to move
through this area.
