[va-bird] -4/30 Wakefield and L. Accotink Pks., Fairfax Co.

I visited Wakefield Pk. from dawn to 9:30. Most notable by their absence were 
Swamp Sparrows. Last Sun. they were one of the most numerous birds I'd seen 
(>30). Right around the tennis court parking lot: Prairie Warbler, Orchard 
Oriole and E. Kingbird. Warbler species were light, but did see one late Palm 
Warbler. Indigo Buntings were also present. I though I heard a Warbling Vireo 
(in the woods, just south of the substation), but it was difficult to be 
positive over the Beltway road noise and competing Cardinal and Ca. Wren arias. 
Moved on to L. Accotink (10:00-12:00). Even less action there except for the 
mudflats on the lake with at least fifteen Spotted Sandpipers and nine Solitary 
Sandpipers. I did pick up my FOS Scarlet Tanager, was seriously scolded by a 
pair of Hairy WPs (nesting?), and heard a hoot-off between two Barred Owls 
downstream of the dam at about 11:30. Topped the morning off with a female 
Rose-breasted Grosbeak feeding at my deck (just east of Southrun Park). The 
list is for Wakefield [W] and L. Accotink [A];unmarked species were seen or 
heard at both locations.
