During a very windy morning, we had about 57 species. Among the more
interesting were one rough-legged hawk; one virginia rail calling in the
marshy area to the left of the road about one hundred yards in from the
entrance; at least twenty osprey, including those on seven occupied nests; 5
great horned owls, an adult and two nestlings on one nest and a single
nestling on the other nest with a second adult perched on a tree in the
proximity of the nest; a yellow-bellied sapsucker; 9 red-tail hawks, 11
greater yellowleg; 3 snipe; one cooper's hawk; and 6 eagles. As a side treat
we had a beaver swimming in Marumsco Creek.
