At least one of the ospreys has returned to the nest on the 14th Street
railroad bridge connecting Virginia with the District of Columbia. These birds
are a welcome sight for birding commuters riding the the Metro's Yellow Line to
and from the District, which parallels the railroad bridge on the upstream
side. The nest has fledged 3 young for at least each of the last two years.
On some days it is possible to see the ospreys on the south side of the bridge
superstructure and a peregrine or two on the north superstructure.
