Hailey sat in the quarters that she shared with Ensign Avina. Avina
was nice enough, for polite and cordial, but she kept to herself and only
spent time in the shared quarters when she was sleeping. Hailey didn't
know, and didn't really care all that much, where Avina was in the waking
hours. Probably off reading some new article, or research that had recently
come out. Right now was no exception.
The Cadet heard the beep of the incoming communiqué and guessed this
was not going to be good news. They had been back in the Alpha Quadrant for
almost two weeks now, and she had yet to send a report to Commodore Stryker.
He had already sent one request a week ago. She was actually surprised that
he had been patient enough to wait another whole week before sending another
such "request." Though, she was sure this time it wouldn't be so much of a
request as an order.
Hailey had held off sending anything, because she didn't know what to
send. Things were getting out of hand. It was one thing to send the
Commodore information on missions that he had ordered or knew about. This
one was different though. This mission and come straight from the CiC and
she doubted very much that Stryker knew about the mission. Which must have
been frustrating the Commodore to no end.
Looking at the new incoming message Hailey sighed. It was worse then
she suspected. Commodore Stryker was definitely livid. He was even
threatening pulling her off the Eagle and kicking her out of the Academy. Not
that he had the power to kick her out of the Academy, however, Hailey was
sure that he could probably pull some strings and make sure that she did not
receive a favorable return. He was demanding to know what the exact mission
was, what happened, what Lukas did wrong, what rules the Captain had
violated, why the Eagle hadn't come to Starbase 325 for rest, what happened
in the Beta Quadrant, what information about the Romulans that she had
picked up, and the demands went on and on.
Hailey had had just about enough of this. She was determined to make
sure that things ended one way or another. She was tired of being pulled in
too many directions at once. Commodore Stryker had crossed the line and
taken her with him.
The only thing that she could think of to do was talk to the Captain. He
would probably toss her out the nearest airlock. But so be it. At least he
would be able to do something to Stryker. He seemed to have an uncanny
ability to get under the starbase commander's skin. And maybe he would be
able to prevent some other cadet from being placed in this position.
Hailey transferred the communiqué over to a data PADD, the Captain
would probably want to see the message. She then headed out of her quarters
towards the bridge, where the computer had told her the Captain currently
was.
