I was promised some great character description and you really
delivered!
<<Bela motioned to anguished faces and mottled pelts in the crowd on
either side of the advancing trio, their owners bowing and murmuring
softly with hands raised. "I hope their gods are listening.>>
I get a vivid sense of Bela from that. It's hard to describe, but I can
picture his sincerity and empathy very clearly, just from those
sentences. He's such a *kind* character, but not in a false or forced
way. I really enjoy that.
<<"Not to be too judgmental or xenophobic, McKnight... but it's a CAT."
The security officer had seen her at her worst the other night, which
gave Orianna free reign, she felt, on a little good-natured, friendly
jibing. "Remind me to lock up Golden if you ever come over!">>
::grins:: And we've seen Oriana's dark side, and her empathy before, but
I really enjoy her being able to let lose and expose that sense of
humor! It rounds out that third dimension beautifully.
<<"Maybe they oughtta try rain dances or something," McKnight offered
with a grin. "I mean as you so quickly pointed out earlier, they ARE a
bunch of cats. You'd think one of them would be bound to have some
rhythm. And besides... oh crap.">>
And, of course, we've encountered McKnight's biting cynicism before, but
it definitely reinforces the impression that he's from the less cordial
enlisted corps, used to rough and crude conversation.
I love the dialogue you three worked up! It yielded a sense of motion
and of character development without ever becoming lost in the details!
Do I sense Dawn's journalistic background at work? :)
Nice job.
