[USS Athena] Personal Log: "Curiosity"

=/\= ON =/\=

"Computer, record personal log...

"I'm not sure if this is a victory or defeat for me, but I seem to have
overcome the effects of my semi-annual hormonal problem... call it pon'farr of
whatever you wish."

T'Shana sighs and throws the towel back into the bathroom.

"Unfortunately, and probably much to the dismay of Doctor Fyrstk, it wasn't
accomplished with scientific methods or medication... just my old way of
handling it. Though, it was quite on accident... or maybe not quite on
accident, but... inadvertent."

She begins putting her undergarments on, pausing before grabbing the uniform
out of the closet.

"So, yeah... the one who provided the cure was the ship's bartender... Steve.
He's actually not bad looking... well, he's actually really good looking,
but... that's neither here nor there. I'm not about to start anything more
serious with anyone on board... just ends up making trouble."

After fastening the pants, she eyes the jacket with dismay.

"I so wish they would change this damn uniform... it's... it's just so...
yesterday."

She throws the jacket on the bed, putting her boots on first. Her eyes go out
to the living area, to the dark screen of her computer on the desk.

"I'm curious though... I don't even know his last name... or if he's civilian,
or what. Hmm... not like I ever really asked."

Shaking her head, she stands.

"Does it really matter? No. ... But I'm still curious... for some damn reason.
After all I will have to be with him on this ship for who knows how long.
Ugh... first time for me... to worry about something like that. THAT's why I
don't like being on ships. You end up doing something stupid and that mistake
will hang around if you want it or not."

She growls at herself, marching into the living area.

"I'm just glad this ship is not a little Nova class... that would be awkward.
... Computer, what is the bartender's name?"

"There are three bartenders on the crew list," the computer replies, "Specify
shift."

"Uhm... Beta shift, I believe."

"Petty Officer 2nd class Stephen Mason, bartender, in charge of the lounge
during Beta shift," the computer reports.

"A non-comm... Can you bring up his file?"

T'Shana sits at the computer and taps a button to activate the screen. It
lights up.

"Affirmative." The personnel file displays.

(See attached Image)

"Interesting... there isn't a lot of information. Hmmm... barely anything on
his family background, his childhood, or the likes. And nothing on his training
before he came to the Athena... strange... I wonder why? ... Wait. His mother
and father have a different last name than he does? How curious. Computer, has
Petty Officer Mason been adopted?"

"Information not available."

"What do you mean, not available? Ugh... it should be somewhere in the
database."

She frowns, pondering for a long moment. Her eyes go back to the information on
the screen.

"Did he perhaps have a name change?"

"Information not available."

"Grrrr... damnit! Stop that! ... How about... wait a minute... wait... his
parents' last name is Alvanel. That's Portuguese... it means... Mason. Yes!
Mason... it's the same name, just different languages. Computer, search
database for a Stephen Alvanel."

A few bleeps. "No match found."

"Ugh! There has to be some connection. ... What about similar names, close
matches, perhaps a different first name?"

Again a few bleeps. "Three Starfleet personnel with the last name Alvanel
found. 1) Ensign Mario Alvanel, USS Pegasus. 2) Corporal Stefano Alvanel,
Special Forces. 3) Captain Teresa Alvanel, USS Roendgen."

T'Shana's brow narrows.

"Hmmm... Stefano... Stephen... seems close enough... but a Corporal? ...
Strange. Computer, display information for Corporal Stefano Alvanel."

The screen blinks out and back on, displaying another file. There is no image,
only text. All it says is: "Corporal Stefano Alvanel, Special Forces, Unit
Alpha 1207. CONFIDENTIAL - ACCESS LEVEL 10 OR HIGHER."

"DAMNIT! ... Computer, stop recording."
