[USS Athena] Findings

???? Tak walked onto the bridge not long after the night Ops officer informed 
her that the Captain wanted alpha shift on the bridge asap.? Tak got report and 
then got back to work on sorting through all the files on the area, both 
historically and the most current, up to date information.? She had previously 
found records of the area that told of a powerful civilization.? The records 
indicated that a once powerful alien race had lived on the 3rd planet in the 
system.? 
???? The Alien race was said to have technology far superior to anyone else in 
the sector at the time, and, from the looks of things, even surpassed current 
technology.? It was said that this race could "pop" out of nowhere and vanish 
just as fast, leaving behind no trace that could be detected.? Most of the 
stories about this race, that Tak had nicknamed the Altassians, depicted them 
as peaceful and benevolent.? However, there were a few stories that said the 
Altassians were vindictive and vengeful.? One even went on to describe the 
events that lead to it's downfall.
???? The story went that one of the Altassians shuttles, which had been 
seriously wounded in an accident, sought refuge on the planet.? While on that 
planet the Altassians died.? The planet tried to contact the Altassians, but 
were not able to get any reply.? When a group finally showed up to collect 
their fallen comrades, the vowed to destroy ever last one of the race on the 
planet.? Within 10 days a plague had fallen onto the people of this world.? The 
plague started in the very palace that had housed the fallen Altassians.? Over 
5 billion people lost their lives to this plague.? Only a few made it off this 
world alive.? Those that did were shunned every where they went, for fear of 
this plague.
???? Now, this was just one story.? It probably even had basis in facts.? Tak 
was certain that there was evidence elsewhere about a planet that was 
destroyed.? That, of course, did not mean that the Altassians were responsible 
for these deaths.? At least not intentionally.? Tak had found a lot of other 
rumors about the Altassians and germs.? Too many, in fact, to just dismiss the 
idea all together.? Most of these other rumors hinted at biogenetic research.? 
If this was the case, then maybe something had gone wrong, and those Altassians 
that died on that planet had brought the plague there with them.
???? Tak concentrated on looking at the files that contained information about 
the Altassians and biogenetic research.? What she found concerned here a 
little.? It was known that this race? inhabited several planets.? But, it would 
seem that the planet in this system was used almost exclusively for the 
biogenetic research.? Of all the rumors and stories that talked about that type 
of research, not one mentioned a place any other then this planet.? Now the 
stories did mention other planets that the Altassians inhabited, but it was 
only this planet that had anything to do with the research.
???? After looking through the last file the computer indicated pertained to 
this last search, Tak decided that this was something that the CO and XO should 
know about.? she summed up her findings quickly and then looked over to the 
command area.
???? "Excuse me, sirs, I've found something that I think you should see."
