[UNSDB] Robotech or Macross movie: CG or live action

I know it's an old topic but the release of RT3K footage on Robotech.com
sparked the old question again in me:
If there were a NEW movie to be made in the Robotech or Macross universe,
what could it be like?
Several versions would be possible, none of which seem very attractive to
me.

Let's just say they decide to do a live action movie. I think they wouldnt
be able to afford both decent actors AND good looking animation for the
action and transformation sequences. Maybe something along the lines of the
Wing Commander movie would be possible (which wouldnt be *that* bad as that
movie was ok). But I doubt that HG has financial backgrounds comparable to
those of Origin Systems, although they seem to be working on it with all the
merchandise and DVDs and rights selling (hmm, I think I'll make a separate
post for that). I just cant get the vision of
Power-Rangers-and-VR-Troopers-with-a-pinch-of-Robotech out of my head, brrr.

An entirely CG movie would be possible but for financial reasons could never
reach the quality of, say, Final Fantasy The Spirits Within or Titan AE. And
the result would be a financial desaster.

So, either way, the chances for a Robotech or Macross movie look bad and I
dont know if thats a good thing or not.
