About the only Things I have experience with are the novels(which dont even
agree with themselves in some cases) a few episodes of the 1st generation and
the RPG by palladium. But I also have alot of experience with military
equipment and engineering details. If I remember right, the SCD was
developed before the SDF-3 launched. It was designed against Zentraedi
sensors to operate like a modern day Radar Jammind device. It was later
modified for p~ sensors after it was found that the Invid relied on p~
sensors for targeting. Of course the Masters probably knew this fact, and
could have engineered around it. But they considered ALL Zentreadi
expendable, so they didnt care enough to bother. And the Invid wouldnt have
bothered to develope other sensors if visuals and p~ sensors worked. The old
"If it aint broke, dont fix it!" arguement.
This means that, like current day fighters, the VTs have sensor jamming
devices. and they are already adjusted to give off freind-foe-identifyer
signals that cant be scrambled by the jammers.(foul weather and sandstorms
will play havoc though) These are in use today. The SCD had p~ emitions
added, but that shouldnt effect any other systems that are already in place.
Besides, R&D (research and developement) wouldnt have OKed the project for
mainstream use if it interfered with the ability to locate friendly forces.
of course this is just MHO.
