[UNSDB] HG and Robotech merchandise: filling their bank accounts for what?

Like I already mentioned in the preceding mail about the movie issue, I
(would like to?) believe that HG are not only expanding all the apparel and
merchandise and DVDs to get richer and richer, I think that they are working
towards something.
I base this on several facts:
When Robotech.com was in Beta stage they released several (I think it was 3)
images of new Robotech characters, Brent Whatshisname and Suzy
Whatshername..They all can be found in the image section of RT.com.
They establish a much frequented message board by coupling it with their
credit system, then later on disabling the accumulation of credits with each
post "because it was abused". Yeah right. BTW, I think thats a brilliantly
effective way of doing it.
Then they throw little bits and pieces into the snake pit, meaning into our
lap, in the form of little bits of information and their polls. We all go
wild.
Then when they got us all hooked they release their merchandise and the DVDs
which we all of course buy, all the while they monitor our reactions.

I know this sounds like a typical conspiracy theory, but I dont exclude
myself at all (hell, I was among the first 2000 beta testers and just went
NUTS over it all). I just think thats brilliantly clever way of checking out
the fans AND making money. To sum it up, I think theres something big in the
making, money or a big project or probably both.
