[UK TV Freelancers] Update from www.tvfreelancers.org.uk

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the new mailing list from www.tvfreelancers.org.uk, the
growing initiative for freelancers in the UK TV industry.

Our aim is to get as much feedback from as many people as possible, as
to the kind of direction we should be taking. The website now has a
forum with some lively debate going on; please visit and make your voice
heard, or use the contacts page on the site to email us directly. You
don't need any kind of registration or login to use the forum.

We have already attracted the attention of BECTU, and you may well want
to read what they have to say about their representation of freelancers
- in a new page on the site, and in the forum.

We've also begun to discuss specific online tools which might be useful
to freelancers - such as an automated system for sharing information
about rates, or a database to enable people to share experiences about
specific employers. This discussion thread is on the forum entitled 'How
can freelancers create an effective online community?' at

We've switched to a new mail-out system which is completely ad-free,
very flexible and much, much easier to sign up to. It's now integrated
with our website, so that anyone can go to the contacts page on
www.tvfreelancers.org.uk and sign up for these emails at the click of a
button. You can also take yourself off the list, or temporarily suspend
your emails, the same way - or read all previous emails online via the
website.

PLEASE spread the word to all your online colleagues and friends who
might be interested in joining this mailing list. We will only send out
emails when there is progress to report, or when we have specific
requests for feedback, so your inbox will not be overwhelmed. The more
people we have on board, the more effective we can be.

In case you would like an easy way of telling others about the
initiative, we will soon send out an informative email which you can
forward on to interested friends and colleagues, with all the basic
details.

Best wishes
