Dear TV Freelancer,
The Royal Television Society is holding a discussion on the increasing
problem of people working for free, or less than the minimum wage,
within the broadcast industry. It's taking place on May 15th at the
London Studios.
Organiser Oliver Bartlett has posted a message on the tvfreelancers
forum, asking users to contribute their experiences of low or no pay
within the TV industry. He is also inviting those who would like to
attend the discussion to email for tickets.

This issue is a crucial one for everyone in the television industry,
whether they have suffered low/no pay or not, and it's certainly one
which has received a lot of discussion on our forum. There are many who
believe that the widespread practice of recruiting unpaid or very
low-paid entrants to the industry is having a far reaching effect,
whether it's on freelance staff who have to compete or whether it's on
the long-term health of a industry only open to those of independent
means.
Oliver is guaranteeing anonymity for those who wish to email their
experiences, so please let him know how strongly we feel about this
shameful practice!
Best wishes,
