Dear TV Freelancer,
As mentioned in a previous message, the TV Freelancers online community
is approaching its first birthday, and it's set to be an important one.
To celebrate the occasion, we're organising an informal get-together, so
that we can put faces to some (user)names, sound you out about the way
forward, and give you the chance to meet more of your fellow freelancers
over a relaxed bevy or two.
This will happen on the evening of Saturday the 22nd February; and with
apologies to those of you outside the SE of England, the first gathering
will be in London. If you think you might like to come - can you reply
to this email and let us know, within the next few days? No commitment
is necessary, but an idea of numbers will help us decide what kind of
venue we need. (If you'd like to arrange a get-together elsewhere in the
UK, let us know and we'll publicise it for you.)
So why is this birthday so important? Well, in the space of a year,
simply by word of mouth, we have accumulated well over six hundred
subscribers to our mailing list, and almost 40,000 page hits on our
discussion forum. Still, as far as we're concerned, this is just the
beginning - and you are all founder members in our eyes.
More importantly, thanks to programming and hosting support from
productionbase, we're on the verge of launching a completely new area of
the site, open to registered members only (but still free of charge).
Once that is up and running, we'll be inviting those of you already on
our mailing list to visit, register and test drive the new databases, so
that we can iron out any problems and build a valuable resource of
information.
And then... with the databases kickstarted, we'll be launching
tvfreelancers properly, through industry press, productionbase and other
means; so that instead of hundreds, we'll be talking about thousands of
members. The bigger the community, the more valuable a support base it
will become.
Let us know if you may be joining us on the 22nd. And thanks again for
your support over the last year.
Best wishes
