[UK TV Freelancers] Latest news

Dear TV Freelancer,

It's been several months since you've heard from us (largely due to
pressures of work on your site organisers) but yes, we are still here
and very much active on your behalf.

We now have nearly two and a half thousand registered users of our rates
and employer databases at www.tvfreelancers.org.uk. To have reached this
size in the space of a little under two years is quite an achievement.
But there is still much to do!

To begin with, we'd like to urge you - as always - to make a
contribution to our rates or employer database. If you have searched
through them and found them useful, here is your regular
conscience-squeeze to give something back and add an entry of your own
(bearing in mind it's all anonymous, and no one else will get to see
your name or personal details).

Finally, just a reminder of what we offer you on our site. To begin
with, the databases mentioned above let you share information with other
freelancers about current rates - by broadcaster, job type and genre.
They also let you access and share your experiences of good and bad
employers. In addition, we also have an active forum where you can
discuss any problem or issue facing freelancers, from contracts to
unionisation to whether you prefer NTSC or PAL colour bars (yes, there
is an actual thread on that subject). And we've also recently started up
a reference section, which currently tackles the thorny issue of holiday
pay and offers a handy Excel tool so you can see how employers calculate
your entitlement - and how it should be done.

We hope to keep the site moving forward more actively in the next few
months - we'll keep you updated with any new developments.

Best wishes
