[UK TV Freelancers] 'Freelance Hell' debate

Dear TV Freelancer,

At this year's Edinburgh TV Festival, one of the planned sessions on the
24th August is to be called 'Freelance Hell'. We have a chance to shape this
discussion. BECTU is helping with the research, and Martin Spence has asked
us to play a part in this. There are two ways you can contribute (whether
you are a BECTU member or not):

1. Are there any issues, stories, or examples of 'Freelance Hell' that you
would like the organisers of this session to be aware of, so that these
issues can be discussed?

2. A short film is being put together to allow freelancers to talk about
their worst experiences. Those being included will have the option to remain
anonymous by being filmed in shadow/pixellated, if they wish. Would you like
to be included in this film? (Our members have already contributed to a
similar project for the RTS, to great effect.)

We need urgent responses, especially from anyone prepared to be in the
film - in fact we really need to hear from you by Tuesday 29th July. If
you'd like to contribute in either way, please use the following email
address (do NOT click 'reply' to this email as that will return you to a
different address:)

freelancehell@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Your email will be forwarded straight on to Martin Spence, and via him to
the organiser of the discussion - in confidence.

Do please contribute, if you can. Freelance issues are finally beginning to
get some attention now, and this is one of the ways we can get our voice
heard. Thanks for all your support!
