Can you help us? I am producing a session at the Edinburgh Television
Festival in late August called 'Running On Empty - Exploitation of TV
Freelancers', which will look at instances of production companies and
broadcasters failing to match employment regulations when hiring people on
their productions. This issue has been highlighted by the TV Wrap pressure
group. The session already has a high profile and should come away with a
solution to prevent illegal practices happening in the future.
 
As part of the session, we are filming a short DV insert of people
discussing their personal experiences of poor employment practice,
specifically when they have led to pay below the minimum wage, or hours too
long, or too many demands for unpaid work experience, or health & safety
breaches. Have you a story to tell? If so, we would really like to hear from
you. We will be filming people, but in covert, hidden-face style for
everyone, so as not to jeopardise their identity.
