The emergence of the Home Media Station (HMS). Loyal readers of this
column may have noticed that during the past two months nearly half of
the news and editorials were either about home entertainment devices or
about enhanced PCs mimicking a home stereo-component. Morevover, it is
widely evident that both the commercial and open source world, despite
their inherent conflict of approach, seem to aggree on at least one
thing: The future of home computing is towards understanding networking,
ubiquitous media play-out and home-friendly interaction paradigms.
