Piracy Is Good? Part 2: The New Laws of Television
http://www.mindjack.com/feature/newlaws052105.html
If broadcast television is abandoned as the distribution outlet for
television programs, how will audiences know what to watch? It's
believed that without the endless promotion that accompanies any
television broadcast, the audience will simply evaporate. The only
long-term solution to this problem lies in actively encouraging fan
communities - social networks which spread the word about the show.
Television Reloaded
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7935915/site/newsweek/print/1/displaymode/1098/
It's a transformation as significant as when we went from
black-and-white to color and it's already underway. The promise is
that you'll be able to watch anything you want, anywhere on a huge
high-def screen or on your phone.
Narrowcasting Your Show
http://www.wired.com/news/digiwood/0,1412,67533,00.html
Watch a whole-hog barbecue, fly casting in Kansas or movies by indie
filmmakers. Niche TV programming is in the works. Small companies like
DaveTV will soon use broadband to offer shows catering to special
interests.
MeTV: Television of the Future
http://news.com.com/2009-1041-5649372.html
New technologies, from on-demand programming to TiVo offshoots to flat
screens to HDTV, are radically changing the benign concept of
traditional television. Viewers are now gaining control over the mass
medium, creating interactive communities and installing custom-made
home media networks. As entire industries are redefined, how are
networks, content providers and advertisers adjusting their
strategies?
