I still think Exam boards who are still not applying Guidance and Technical
Materials should adopt 'ing' (346) as a universal 'omission' indicator -
regardless of what is in print - it only needs a transcription note at the
start of the paper to remind students that 'ing' represents missing
numbers/expressions etc. - does a student really need to know that the print
copy has a circle, a square or other visual reference? - students are under
enough pressure without having to learn 6 or more symbols for missing datum. ;-)

In what context is this? I assume it is a mathematical co-ordinate?
Guidance in the UK is to include a space between the numbers in a co-ordinate.
You are right that the UEB sign for underscore is dots 46,36. This can
represent a missing item.

In print, the omission lines are about 2cm long with no space after the comma.
I’ve referred to Guidelines for Technical Material but am just uncertain – I
understand omission lines in this case are 4,6 followed by 3,6? Space after
comma?
