I know what you're doing, though I haven't been taking the time to
try and visualize everything.  Diagrams would make it clear instantly.
Robert Walker could probably create VRML to do it in no time.

I'm reminded of our dinner, Gene, when you described groups to me a
bit.  You gave complete descriptions of some types of groups, which
all seemed quite simple, but apparently the simple set of definitions
led to deep implications for you, and nothing for me.  I suspect the
language of math is like that -- as simple as possible, with the
implications to be worked out by the hearer.  It's one of the few times
I can remember not being able to think of questions -- you had literally
explained everything -- but still not understanding in the least.

I'm wondering if anybody is seeing my replies over here?  If nobody is
going to use this list, it should be deleted, or at least its mailer
turned off and the forwarding from yahoo turned off.  The situation
is causing fragmentation of the message archives.
