Hello all,

Two very important things.

*** 2006-2007 TUGS Exec Elections ***

If you are interested in being on the Geography course union executive, please 
come by the office in Sid Smith (rm 613) and pick up a Nomination form and fill 
it out. With the Nomination form their will also be a description of the 
positions and what the duties of the positions are.

Examples of some positions are:
- Vice-President
- Treasurer
- SAC Environmental Liaison
- Academic Coordinator
- Social Coordinator
- Advertising Officer
- Technical Officer
- as well as Year representatives...

It is as easy as that.

There are a number of positions that you can run for, we would like to 
encourage everyone to come out and get involved.



*** JOB POSTINGS ***

There are 2 summer positions upcoming in the Cartography Office this summer. If 
you are interested please email your resume to Byron Moldofsky as soon as 
possible. At the moment this is limited to Geography grad and undergrad 
students.

Postion 1: 
Historical Atlas of Canada Online Learning Project Web content developer
Description: Creation of web pages for interactive atlas project, primarily 
generation and conversion of text, graphs, illustrations, etc.
Experience required: Web design (Dreamweaver, Fireworks) spreadsheet and 
database manipulation (Excel, Access) some writing skills. 
Period: 8 weeks, full time, April-June; casual status. 
Rate of pay: $15-20 per hour, depending on experience.

Position 2: Canadian Century Research Infrastructure Data processor - GIS and 
other
Description: Working with tabular historical census data to match manuscript 
census data with GIS census subdivisions.
Experience required: Database manipulation (Excel, Access), some experience 
with GIS, familiarity with Canadian historical and archival data sources an 
asset.
Period: 16 weeks, full time, April-August, Research trainee status.
Rate of pay: $15-20 per hour, depending on experience.
