This is a reminder that tomorrow is our first session of the MBTD for 2017.
Please have your SCOUT read the email below, scanning to look for the info. on
what they need to bring, and what their roles and responsibilities in all this
will be (This is the preferred method of creating and mentoring future
leaders, instead of just telling them/reminding them what to bring. LOL (I
know, I know: the latter method is just WAY faster and WAY more accurate, I’m
right there with you! Teaching a human to fish is always harder than just
fishing for them)

· Jennifer Doyle (cell: 937.620.2106) – can haul 4 Scouts total
· Holly Cousino – 6 Scouts
· Kristin Keiser – 3-4 Scouts
· Natalie Donahue – Driving her 2 Scouts separately
Thanks for everyone that volunteered to drive! If others could volunteer to
drive for the next two sessions, that would be good team spirit!

Everyone,
Hi! Next Saturday, February 11th, is the first of three sessions for our Merit
Badge Trail Drive (MBTD). We need more drivers, so far we have two drivers
that can cover 8 of the 17 Scouts attending.
Summary:
· Saturday, February 11, 2017
· Meet in the Meijer’s Parking Lot (Huber Heights, on S.R. 201)
· Meet at 7:10 am ( I K.N.O.W)
· Leave Meijer’s at 7:25 am
· Drive to:
o Greene County Career Center
o 2960 W. Enon Rd.
o Xenia, Ohio 45385
o Map and directions, below
· General Announcements and Changes starts at 8:30 am
· First Session starts at 8:45 am
· Sessions end around 12:15 pm
· Return to the Meijer Parking Lot approx. 1:00 pm
· Jennifer will hand out the handouts/materials once we arrive
· Bring some extra money if you want: They sell food and snacks:
bagels, donuts, candy, snack bars, coffee, juice, pop
· Each Scout needs to review any pre-requisites they might have and
have them completed by next Saturday. Bring your work with you to show the
MBTD counselor for sign off.
· Each Scout also needs to bring a NOTEBOOK with at least a few sheets
of blank paper and a pen/pencil.
o The Merit Badge Counselors will give each Scout their contact info.
o Each Scouts NEEDS TO WRITE THAT DOWN and keep that forever.
§ It is way easier to contact a Merit Badge Counselor after the fact if the
Scout has the contact info. We can look that up later if we have to, but this
will save time and puts the responsibility on the Scout.
Please try to be on time – we will leave as soon as everyone arrives. The
adults stay in the cafeteria while the Scouts are in classes, and there is
limited seating, thus we want to get there so we don’t have to stand for 4
hours.
We need more drivers. We need to haul 17 Scouts total.

So we need capacity for 9 more Scouts. Please email the list server if you can
drive, and how many Scouts you are taking.
Jennifer’s info. on the blue cards/handouts, and reminding parents to talk with
their Scouts so they know what a MBTD is, what they will be doing there, etc.

Hello Troop 286
Last night at the meeting, each Scout looked over the schedule for the Merit
Badge Trail Drive (which begins Feb 11th) and checked out their prerequisites.
Many scouts didn't know what that word even meant! So if you would, *****please
take a few minutes to talk to your scout***** to make sure they are doing what
they must to prepare for this activity.
Some families decided to sign out their MB pamphlets last night. Others wanted
to wait. I will have the rest of the books out at next week's meeting and again
on the morning of the 11th.
We also filled out our blue cards. I will hand back their schedules and blue
cards with any pamphlets not yet signed out the morning of the 11th.
We will get transportation details out to the troop soon. Keep your eyes out
for that.
