Sonya,
You have a good point it is pretty bad, Anthony's daycare wouldn't even
let them do Valentine's this year. I was disappointed. I would love to
work with special children ones just like my Christian. They are so
beautiful. =20
I wouldn't even mind going to school to become a social worker or at
least work closely with one. I don't know for sure I have another 3 yrs
to decide.

I worked at a UCP (United Cerebral Palsy) daycare for a year. It was 75%
atypical kids. I find repiste much more rewarding. I get to spend time
one on one and there's no political junk like can sometimes happen in
daycares.

Wow, Sonya
That is so awesome. Man it sounds like it would be a very rewarding job.
I am getting out of the military in a couple of years I have been
thinking of getting a part time job at a daycare. When I was a kid I was
in Future Home makers of America and I loved it. I learned a lot and I
want to get back to it.=3D20
Stacy, I wish your sister the best and I hope she finds something she
really likes.=3D20

My actual title, depending on the state services each client gets, is
either "respite worker" or "CAP worker." CAP is one of the state funding
programs here. My current clients are her, a set of preemie twins who
are now 2 years old, a boy with general brain damage, and an autistic
boy. I set my own hours, and my own cilents. Easter Seals-UCP calls me
when they have a client, and I either take it or don't. Most of my
clients are actually people who have come to me provately, who heard of
me through word of mouth. I then help them to set up the state funding
aspect so that they don't have to pay out of pocket. The state pay rate
here is $8.50 an hour, but my clients pay $2 an hour out of pocket as
well, so I get $10.50 an hour.=3D20
Its sometimes hard for me to see these kids, but they are with
families who love them, and I get to love them too, so tis worth the
hard parts to me.
You might also check which trainigns are required for a respite worker
in your state. I have to keep up to date on CPR, First Aid, bloodborne
pathogens, medication administration, filling out paperwork (yes, theres
really a class on that, its so ridiculously complex), plus I do special
trainings deoending on my clients needs, like G-tubes, trachs, walkers
and wheelchairs, standers, braces, all that kind of thing.

Oh that sounds great! You sound like a wonderful person for doing what
you=3D20
do. So what is your actual title? Did you get to choose who you work
with? Do=3D20
you only work with her? Everyday? How many hours? Sorry to ask so many
questions=3D20
but that sounds more like what my sister would want to do. When I tell
her=3D20
about it I want to give her as much info as possible. I'll go on
Salary.com to=3D20
see how much they pay where we live. Do you think this will help or hurt
her=3D20
with her losing Jamin to Trisomy 13?=3D20
Thanks a lot,
Stacy
