Hello all,
Okay I have been gone for some time now. Well I still read
every day I just don?t respond. So I thought I would update you on our life
since December when I last posted. Well back in August we started the
process of taking Jhia-Vhonnii?s older sister into our home. Well on
February 15th she moved in with us. Her name is Tara and is almost 15 now.
She is doing well, making friends, having straight A?s and helping out like
any teen does. She just went to the 9th grade end of year dance and dinner
cruise. She looked so beautiful in her dress. I have Pictures if anyone
wants t see just let me know.
As for my other two, Mara is now 3 ½ and doing so well. She
starts pre-school this fall and is so excited about that. She is in swim
class 2 days a week and is doing well. She is in the 3rd level of swim
called Eel. She and Vhonii are in the same class. She is the youngest in the
her level in all the classes they teach. Vhonnii is now almost done with
school in a 4-K program. He is starting to read at age 5 and is moving along
very well with that. He is also in swim and doing well. He has done well
with sports this year also and made lots of friends.
Now for Larry and I this may be long so you are welcome to
stop reading if you would like. In December Larry finished school and is now
a CRNA. He now owes the Army back 4 years since they paid for all his school
and he received active duty pay as a CPT while going to school. We got
re-stationed here at Ft. Lewis for another 2yr (that is what we wanted). He
is loving his job and the verity of cases he get to go being at a military
hospital. So now I will share about me. In late January I went to the doctor
thinking I had restless legs. I was having problems keeping my legs still at
night and they just hurt. So about a week before my appointment I felt like
someone had punched me in the armpit and when we felt around we found a
lump. So with all of that my doctor when I saw her of course said let run
some blood test and come back in a week and we will talk about them. Well
that night she called and said I was being sent to Hematology to have a bone
morrow biopsy the next day. For those of you who are medical on here my
white count was 1.8, my platelets where 90 and my iron level was 10. My bone
marrow showed nothing and then it was not to CT and Pet scan to look at the
lymph nodes that was enlarged in my arm pit. They found more than they
thought. I had lymph nodes swollen in my pelvis, collar bone, groin, and
both arm pits. So now we are in mid March and we schedule surgery to remove
the hottest and closest one to remove for April 7th. One week before
surgery I was doing one of my 6 iron infusions I have done and told my DR. I
thought I had petechia on my body so she order a CBC. Well that day was not
good. My white ct was 1.2 and my platelets where 8 or 8000. So I had a
platelet infusion that day. One week later I had my surgery and that morning
the petechia was back and full blown (mouth, belly, nose and all) Yet again
my platelets where low. They were at their record low of 5. So to get me to
surgery they pumped me full of 4 six packs of platelets. I got up to 60 and
they took me to surgery. The lymph node was removed and I was sent home. A
day later I started my cycle and was bleeding very heavy. I went in for a
CBC and my platelets where back at 5 so they kept me for 4 days and placed
me on Prednisone of 90mg every day. My lymph node came back reactive and so
they went on a fishing expedition. I was test for HIV, all HEP?s, lupus of
all kind, and anything else they could come up with. Well everything came
back neg. My platelets responded to it and so did my white count. So they
gave me a diagnosis of ITP and sent me home. I came off the prednisone by
the 5th of may and was back on it and back in the hospital on the 8th of
May. On that day I had a WC of 0.8 and a platelet ct of 2. I have now been
diagnosis with not only ITP but Chronic Idiopathic Neutropenia. I have now
been on 90mg or 80 mg of prednisone since the 8th and have gained 20 pound
and look like a balloon. I hate it but it is keeping me out of the hospital.
So we still don?t know what is wrong with me and last week I had another
punch in the arm pit feel and have another lymph node swollen so I?m off to
CT tomorrow. My Hem Dr. and another Hem Dr. From the University of
Washington think it may be a form of Lymphoma, but they can?t find it nor
can they tell me what. They say just because they can?t find it in bone
marrow, the last lymph node biopsy dose not mean it is not somewhere else.
So we will see what comes about tomorrow with the new CT and see if there
is any new swollen lymph nodes or what has happen to the ones that where
there before. Are they gone with steroid treatment or do we have new ones ,
I will just keep you posted. Oh and in all of this I feel great and am still
working out 2-3 days a week and keeping up with my kids. They just don?t get
how I feel so good.
Okay so I will let you all know how things are going later
this week and I will not stay gone this long again. Sorry for the long post
and I will talk to you all soon.
Take Care,
Katie
