[tri-wings] Weight issues with Vada

Hello everyone...
I had to take Vada to the Dr. today. She has been having issues with choking
for the past few days. Usually awhile after she eats she will get this deer in
the headlights look on her face then she gasps for air then her eyes water then
she turns really red. She comes out of it fairly quickly but I can't sleep
thinking she is going to do this and not be able to catch her breath while we
are sleeping. So I took her in today and her regular dr wasn't in. Vada saw one
of his associates. All this dr. wants to do is put Vada on Zantac for acid
reflux. My thing is I want to do what is best for Vada, but she has started
formula (similac neo sure) and I think maybe the formula is causing her
problems. I would think they would want to change that before medicating her. I
have an issue with medicating a baby who is only 3 weeks old. Don't get me
wrong, I want to do what is best for Vada but the dr told me herself that the
zantac wouldn't help with the choking. it will only help if she has acid in her
tummy. Any thoughts on this??? I am still struggling with the new mom thing and
have been so worried that something bad is going to happen to her. I don't
sleep much at night. The other issue I am worried about is her weight. When she
was born on Nov. 30 she weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces. She is now at 6 pounds 4
ounces. She should have gotten back up to and exceeded her birth weight by now
as she is almost 4 weeks old. She has been supplementing with formula for
almost 2 weeks and we have only gained 3 ounces in that time. So tomorrow she
is going back to see her dr. and we will see what he wants to do about her
weight.
Well she is waking up so I should tend to her. If anyone has any words of
advise for this new scared to death mom please feel free to share...I'd
appreciate it.
