Hello all,
Some of you know me and many may not no me, but I have an odd question. I
wanted to know if we have any African American families on here? Larry and I
have been foster parents to Jhia-Vhonnii now for 12 months and on Tuesday we
found out that he will be placed up for adoption. We are looked at first for a
forever home for him since he has lived with us so long. Larry and I want to
keep him too and love him so much. He has been our world for the past year. No
here is why I'm asking. Larry and I are both white and Jhia-vhonnii is black
and the state will ask how we will keep him connected to his culture and
heritage when we go to the current care taker committee. Larry and I have ask
many families at church that are African American what there input is and we
would love to have more. We would like to know what you feel is most important
for him as he grows up, and what we can do as his parents. He is only 2 now so
we have just had him in Gymboree were there is all kinds of cultures and also
our well cultured church. Is there more we should be doing? If any one could
help that would be wonderful. Feel free to e-mail me off the list if you wish.
Thanks.
