Hugs are not much, but when they are all that I can give, I
hope they help.  I personally do not think it is rudeness. 
I think that it is "meanness."  That couldn't have been just
a prank if they had to dig it out, cement and all.  IMHO you
should really report it to the police.  I know it seems far
fetched that they would be able to do anything about it, but
you never know.  It might show up somewhere, and they might
be able to get it back for you.  But if you never report it,
they would never be able to help.    

I really hope that you get your mailbox back.
