Dear Brenda, Katie, & Erin,
It is so good to get your updates. I also want to share - not mine, but
Cheryl's - current condition. She had a doctor's appt. last Friday. She
told me she had gained 2 pounds and her hemoglobin was up. Both sounded
like good news to me. She is due August 21st. She had an extremely busy
weekend. Double booking - no communication about plans with hubby. His
parents came to help him finish the landscaping project they had started in
June. They had my brother's 10th anniversary party on Friday night, their
pastor's retirement party on Sat. night, a birthday party Sat afternoon, & a
wedding between the two. They only missed the birthday party. And Sunday
was just as busy.
She called yesterday afternoon - just to talk. She wasn't driving, and she
wasn't on her walk - her normal times to 'just check in'. She told me that
she had had her doctor's appointment after another Level 2 ultrasound that
morning. I was very surprised about the US since she is in her last month.
She said the doctor had been concerned that the baby had stopped growing; so
she scheduled the US and more bloodwork. I asked her why she hadn't told
me. She said that they were worried enough and didn't want everyone else to
worry until they knew for sure what was going on. They hadn't told anyone.
In fact, she told my mom, great-grandma, that she was taking the day off to
look again at daycares. She decided not to do that in order to finish
clearing the things out of Hope's nursery. The US showed good news! Baby
is "fine" according to the specialist that they had with Hope. And she
finally got an estimate of the weight - 6.5 pounds - give or take a pound.
The baby was very active, covered its face every time they tried to get a
clear facial shot, and still did the thumb's up sign. Cheryl says,
"definitely a thumbsucker!"
Cheryl has started dilating - one centimeter already. Dr. Holcomb says she
could have the baby any time from today until 4 weeks from now. She told me
to pack a bag. Dr. Holcomb told her she needed more than six hours notice
(I agreed.) because she does carry the Strep B virus and needs to be on
antibiotics for six hours before birth. [My daughter-in-law had the same
thing and didn't make it to the hospital 6 hours prior to Bridge's birth.
But they checked him and he was fine - actually probably due to the fast
delivery.]
Anyway, all looks good, but I was scared for a few minutes, and the kids
were, too.
I wish all of you well and ask for prayers on behalf of my daughter and sil.
SORRY THIS IS SO LONG!
Sheila
