[tri-wings] Updates from sunny Scotland

Hi All

For once I actually have some half interesting things to talk about on list.
So i thought Id update you on life here.

Tam and I have just been accepted as "befrienders" for a local respite care
project. The project is contracted by the Local Authority to provide
respite breaks in carers homes or just day trips for children with all sorts
of special needs. Basically we take the kids for days or weekends away to
give their parents a break. We are also organising sports activities and
suchlike and we get a few weeks away in the summer to go to an activity
centre in the Lake District. Im really excited about this project. And
here's the crunch. If you work as a respite carer for them for a certain
period of time, they will present and support your case to become a foster
or adoptive parent to a child with special needs! (Im almost peeing myself
with excitement!) So basically i will be doing short term work and also
working towards a final goal in a few years time when money/security are
sorted. Yippee!

I am also working on a project at the local hospital to provide support for
families who have lost a baby or who are experiencing fertility problems.
Its really in the early stages (ie banging on doors to little response) but
its getting there.

Apart from that, Ive bought a wee car. Nina the Nissan, who i love dearly
after only two days. Always said Id never get a car - greenie that I am -
but shes cute. At least Ill be able to drive to Mandys wedding!

So thats my news. At last Ive something interesting to say. Im off again
now to complete my college project (for complete, read start) which is due
in on Monday. Argh.

Love you all
