Oh dear Brenda!!!!
You poor thing!!! and this is so soon after your loss. You are back at
work very quickly!!! But to answer your question yes it does get better,
since having Louise I have trained as a nurse and then as a midwife and am
now working full-time as a midwife and there are some days where I think why
am I doing this!!! but mostly I am thinking why would I be anywhere else.
Just the other day I was working with a woman and one of the first questions
we ask a woman is how did her last labour go to get an idea of how this one
will go (no two labours are exactly the same but it gives us an idea) anyway
her last labour was very quick and the one before that was a baby terminated
at 17 weeks for "an extra gene" (her words) I asked her which particular
gene but she didn't know when I finished her work-up I went to look at her
chart and bingo T18!! So I went back to her and started talking to her
about the baby asked his name etc and then explained about Louise and she
was astounded because she had been told that these babies were born dead and
that there were no other babies like her 'Nicholas'. So we talked and I
told her about SOFT. It was tricky because she was in labour but I felt she
needed to know I was there. So 13 years down the track it has got better it
just takes time and try not to stress on yourself by saying I should be over
this by now it will be a very long time before you feel okay but you will
never be over Grace.
