Nikia,
Hello I'm so sad that you too have to be here but you have came to a
wonderful place. Everyone here will listen to you no matter what. Sometimes it
is
easier to say things here because you don't have the extra worry of what do
others
think.
My name is Stacy and my sister lost her baby to Trisomy 13. It's been almost
a year and I am still having a hard time but not everyday. My sister is doing
pretty good but she too has her days. We found out when she was pregnant that
her little boy would have Trisomy 13 with a severe cleft pallet, dilated
kidney, and some heart defects. We fought hard for his little life and he lived
5
almost normal weeks at home. He died of what they call central apnea (where the
brain just forgets to send the signal to breath) while he was in the hospital
with a lung infection. My sister too has a 3 year old daughter and a 6 year
old son. It was hard on them but believe it or not they are why my sister can
feel better. One day while my sister was crying her little girl came in the
room and wiped her mothers tears and said don't worry Momma Jamin (her baby) is
okay. That has stuck with all of us forever because it was like a message to us
that he really is okay.
Hang in there young children understand and bounce back better than we think.
God gives us all the strength though it may be hard and I think God gives
little ones a little something more to be able to deal with such difficult
things
at such a young age.
We keep Jamin's pictures everywhere and we talk of him often even though it
is hard we don't want him to be forgotten.
Things will get easier..I promise.
