Jesse,
Congratulations on your wonderful son. We're sure he's a beautiful baby boy..!!!
Our son was born last Oct and diagnosed with Mosaic Trisomy 18. Like your
experience, he was rushed from our hospital to the local Children's Hospital.
We were told that the chances of him surviving beyond 2 weeks were very slim
and that we should prepare for the worse. Each day we were told he would
probably not live through the night, so we stayed at the hospital every day and
night, until after one week, the doctors agreed that we should take him
home...and we did. Although it was alot of work at first, we adjusted to what
it took to care for him so much so, that it became almost normal. He was doing
great through the first two months, then he started having "stop breathing"
episodes. After 3 amazing months, he gained his wings this past January. The
fact your son has made it past a month is a wonderful thing. Enjoy him and love
him. We suggest taking alot of video and pictures. We did not stop doing our
normal things once our son was born. We went to the park, out to eat, etc.
Guess what we're trying to say is that we did not let what the doctors were
telling us make us stop living and being a family. Although it was only 3
months, to us it felt like a lot longer (in a good way). We have so many good
memories of him. Love your son and enjoy every moment whether it's another day
or another 40 years....!!!

Subject: [tri-wings] Trisomy 18
Hello,
I recently had a beautiful baby boy. January 20th to be exact. They rushed
him to a better qualified hospital the day he was born. Two weeks after all
the testing, doctors diagnosed him with Trisomy 18. Myself, my husband and the
rest of my family had never heard of this disorder and were deeply hurt when we
learned of its severity. I wondered if there were any other people who have
experienced the same thing. My son is doing good though. He is now 1 month
and three days old. He's like any other baby to me. My family and I love him
so much, he's our little angel. We look at him and can't believe what doctors
are telling us, he looks so normal and precious!
Deeply sadened
