[tri-wings] Re: Trisomy 17 Missdiagnosis was wrong autopsy results revealed

Theresa,
I'm not sure about having different cell counts on each side of the body; but
our 3 month old son, Evan, has Trisomy 18. He has been called and diagnosed as
having Mosaic Trisomy, due to the fact his blood count showed 50% Trisomy 18
cells, his inner cheek skin cells showed 89% Trisomy 18, and his Chromosome
test of 100 random cells showed 100% Trisomy 18. So the doctors told us that
they feel confident in treating him as a full Trisomy 18 count rather than as a
Mosaic. Although this is how they have proceeded with his treatment, they all
agree that, due to the fact he does have a mixture of Trisomy 18 cell counts,
they can only "best guess" as to how long he may live or learn to do...
All we know is that we love him very much and think we've been graced that he's
decided to make it this far to bless our lives...!!

Subject: [tri-wings] Trisomy 17 Missdiagnosis was wrong autopsy results
revealed

Back in Sept. I told you all my son was diagnosed with Trisomy 17. Then the
doctors told me the chromosome tests came back negative and my son did NOt
have Trisomy 17. Well as you may remember he only lived for 9 days.

We just got final autopsy results back a few days ago. My son did in fact
have Trisomy 17 mosaic. The odd thing is the doctors have told me his cells
had 2 different counts. The right side of my sons body had 75% Trisomy 17
and the left side had 50% Trisomy 17. The right side of his body limbs was
shorter then the left. They also told me of the 23 cases of Trisomy 17
reported my son had similar characteristics to only 10 of those cases and my
son was the only one with the Truncus Arteriousis heart condition.

Has anyone ever heard of one side of the body containing more Trisomy cells
then the other. The doctors told me they have not seen this before and I
cant seem to find any information on the internet in reguards to that
  either.

I was wondering if anyone on here ever heard any of this.

  Thanks for your help

  Theresa
