[tri-wings] Totally off topic again - My mom

Hi again,
Well, my mom went home from the 'swing bed' on Tuesday of last week,
the day that I had to leave for the Twin Cities for my own doctor's
appointment. Her sister brought her home. But by Tuesday night she
was throwing up. And it just seemed to continue. She had a home
health nurse (RN) come in to see her on Tuesday. She called on
Wednesday, then she came over. She came over again on Thursday
because Mom was still throwing up. I talked to the nurse on Thursday
evening, and she didn't seem to think it would make too much
difference if she went to the hospital then, or waited for her
appointment on Friday morning at 11:00 to take her stitches out.

When her doctor first saw her, she said, "I let you go home last
time, you are not going to get to do that this time." Apparently,
they had already discussed nursing home care. So she was admitted to
the hospital on Friday, totally dehydrated with a toe that looked
very infected also. She was so gray, I was really worried. But
after some bags of fluids, and rest, she started to get her color
back and is getting better. Today, she was admitted to a nursing
home in my town - not the one closest to me, but she can still be put
on a waiting list at that one. So far, "they" all seem to think it
is just going to be a temporary thing. I'm not so sure. I think my
mom can put on a really good act when she has people around, but when
she is alone, she will not take care of herself and will begin to
fail all over again. She just doesn't like to take care of herself.
She is in a lot of pain with her back and her legs - like me - but
she also knows that if she wants to go back home, she has to exercise
those things.

She was somber when she was checking in. I started crying my eyes
out. It seems like I just can't get over the feeling that this is
it. Everyone tells me it isn't, so I should believe them, but . . .

Thanks for listening - again.
