[tri-wings] Therapy

Well, hi everyone. Sorry I've not posted much lately. I've been reading
everything, just haven't felt much like posting. We've been having some
rough times. My mom and grandma were both in the hospital at the same time,
so between helping them and caring for Kevin and Allison, I haven't had much
energy. Both mom and grams are on the mend now, but for a time there I was
pretty stressed.

Anyway, I wanted to respond to Jan's question about how our little Matthew
changed lives. There are a few things that come to mind aside from helping
us understand how precious life is. First of all, a co-worker of my MIL
told her that after hearing about our experience with Matthew, her daughter
decided not to terminate her pregnancy. (We knew about Matthew's condition
prior to his birth and my MIL had been talking with her co-worker about it).
She decided to have her twins and give them up for adoption. I think that
is just miraculous. Also, in lieu of flowers at the funeral, we asked for
donations to the pediatric hospice unit that helped us -- I know they needed
the money and were able to help families that did not have insurance for
hospice care. Also, we endowed the library at the school my children will
attend. They put up a plaque in Matthew's memory and his name will be in
all the books we purchased. We intend to add to that every year. In
addition to all that though, Matthew's life brought me in touch with people
I would not otherwise know and strengthened my relationships with family,
friends and especially my loving, strong husband. I miss him every day of
my life, but I honor him in how I try to live that life. Thanks for
bringing up this subject Jan -- you are doing a great job.

Kim,
wife to Jon, mommy to Kevin (3yrs), Matthew(T13)d8/27/00 and Allison (6
months)!
