"There is an intuitive sense which pervades many a child with special needs,
enabling him to correctly determine who really cares, who really loves, and
who is merely pretending."
This whole piece is incredibly special, but the above quote reached out and
grabbed me. Through out Ryan's life I always maintained that he knew who
the people were who adored him. He would snuggle, he would burrow into
their shoulder and become so peaceful... he would save the really big smiles
for them. He loved his PT, he loved our hospice companion who has become a
special family friend (and who happens to be Jewish - yes I am forwarding
this to her!!!), and he positively lit up when his Daddy came into the room.
On the flip side, I still have sadness over those who couldn't connect with
him... and those memories are some of the hardest.
Thank you for sharing this.
Peace~
Sandra, Mom to Ryan (T18 01/31/03-01/29/04) and his sister Drew 03/11/04
