We are OK here just devastated at the loss of life! and we do live right in 
the middle of the bush and have had fires around us before with burning 
embers raining on the house so it is scary! it's probably the same distance 
from us as LA is from San Francisco but I do have family down there in 
Victoria (it's the southern most state on the mainland)  Sue Whitehead lives 
down there but not sure if she is near the fires.  The terrible thing is 
they may have been deliberately lit.  The death toll is at 173 this morning 
and they have just sent the army in to help search for victims.  People got 
caught out trying to flee in their cars it's just horrendous!  It's going to 
be years before the towns are built again and where do all those people go? 
I guess it's a smaller scale of what happened in New Orleans people will 
have to relocate for a period of time..... sorry I'm rambling but I think it 
helps to 'talk it out'
