[tri-wings] Talking of Rainbows

Talking of rainbows, but having nothing to do with copyrights at all :-) I
would like to ask an abstract question.
Once, quite a while ago now, Joe sent a post to the list in which he described
life in the trisomy funpark to the colours of the rainbow. eg the red in the
rainbow stood for............

I rather liked that analogy and have always wanted to expand upon it. I don't
know if I can explain in a nutshell what my thoughts are but here goes:

I don't see the rainbow as just a symbol that everything will be wonderful
again. I see it as a promise - the rain is the dark clouds, life events
whatever and the bow is the tool that we have to fight the future clouds (as in
a bow and arrow not a the bow of a knot)

If you can relate to that analogy (and I know its not a great explanation) what
do the colours of the rainbow symbolise for YOU. I have added the post of
Joe's, hope he's not too embarassed because he says it better than I have.

Joe wrote it on 28th April 1999
Dear List,

I don't have any specific rainbows to relay, but I want you to know that the
list has been a rainbow to me. The last couple of weeks have been kind of up
and down. I guess I'm going through all of the stages of a typical grieving
parent. You know, denial, pain, guilt, etc. As the weeks progress, I've
been
building a rainbow from the list.

To start it off I feel the pain that Jim and Amy are feeling over the passing
of
Jessie. But through the pain I can see a rainbow being built through Jim.
You've been open and honest, sharing every aspect of your life with Jessie.
Your courage and strength has given me strength. You've given me the blue
and
purple for my rainbow, purple is a symbolic color of Christ which is present
in
your life. Blue to me represents a somber melancholy feeling, which is how I
felt when I first read of Jessie gaining her wings.

Dennette, my prayers are with you. No one should have to fight the battles
you
have fought. You have given me red for my rainbow. I see a fiery red rage,
hanging on to that rainbow, never letting go. It was good to read of your
and
Dylan's rainbow today.

Nikki, the memorial service for Hannah and the other children sounded
beautiful.
You've added white to my rainbow. The singing of "On Eagle's Wings" and the
release of the white doves made me cry. The song has a special meaning to
me.

Piero's images of the wooden bridge and the story of the children brightened
my
day. You've added sunshine yellow for my rainbow.

Patsy, Shirley, and Sue, you made me laugh. I can just picture Bradley,
Philina, and Brian cutting a rug out on the dance floor. You gotta get
pictures. I remember watching American Bandstand when I was younger. They
can't be any worst than that. You've added the festive colors of orange and
green to my rainbow.

Thank you for building my rainbows. I've been thinking of you all.
Especially
Pam and your family. We're praying for the safe arrival of your beautiful
child
Jenna. Ron, I leaned on you pretty hard last week. Thank you for being
there.

Love,
