Teri & Ambre,
Your right, but their 2 were also due to a parent's translocation.
But it isn't a Robertsonian Translocation (13/14) like yours, so
their children were partial trisomy 13's, instead of full 13's.
I guess I should mention that there is one other way though that
a parent could end up with 2 or more full trisomy children. If
one of the parents is unknowingly mosaic them self, then unlike in
your translocation situation where you could have a healthy, a
carrier, or an affected child, they would only have 2 options.
Since a mosaic individual has 2 different chromosomal cell lines
in their body, which line they pass on to the child will determine
either a healthy child, or an affected child with whatever chromosomal
condition they are mosaic with. Having a mosaic child really isn't an
expected out come of this scenario, and if they did would just be a
random occurrence.
