Sorry, I am going to speak up on this one! There are NO similarities, it
is probably be their way of comparing, they obviously don't realize how
unsympathetic they are being because it is not even close to being the
same!!! I know their is a big difference between a child and an older
person, although you still have to take care of them just the same! :-)~
(Just had to throw a funny in there, sorry!) Although a loss is a loss
and everyone measures them differently. I think the older generation
(people in their 70/80's) dealth with deaths of children on a regular
basis so that is why they compare it to the loss of a dear friend. We,
today, are not hardened (don't know if this is the right word) towards
the death of a child, it is not supposed to happen, medical science is
too good, it is not supposed to happen.
Sorry if I have rambled, I will stop now!!! I hope I made sense!
