[tri-wings] Roll Call

Hi Everyone,

We have been in severe lurk mode but will come out momentarily to do a roll
call. Robert and I have been married 3 1/2 years. Robert has a daughter by a
previous marriage who is 14 years old. In April of 2000 we became pregnant.
As all parents to be we were so excited and looking forward to a precious baby
joining us around the change of the year. This was my first child and the
first grandchild for my parents. In August we had a routine ultrasound and her
club feet were discovered. They sent us on for further ultrasounds with a
specialist where they discovered her cysts, clinched hands, possible heart
problem and the club feet. The Thursday after Labor Day we received the call
stating the amniocentesis came back saying our little girl had Full Trisomy 18.
I was devasted and very angry but quickly found this group and began educating
myself. My pregnancy went fairly routine considering. On January 4th I was
placed in the hospital to have my labor induced. My blood pressure was up
again and the doctors said my body had had enough. On January 5th after a half
day filled with hard labor, Laura's heartrate began to decline. I opted for a
c-section and at 10:10 pm Laura was delivered. It was a miracle birth because
the doctor thought she was gone but my husband along with the grace of God
Laura began to breath and immediately came around and was brought to me. After
3 short days in the hospital we came home together. We could tube feed her and
dispense all medications. She remained under hospice care and each week a
nurse came out and evaluated her and was on call 24 hours a day. We had a
wonderful 2 months and 14 days with our precious Laura. She had a great 2
months but the final 14 days she really declined and suffered a great deal as
many of you remember. On March 19th she gained her precious angel wings and
went to play with all her Trisomy buddies. In August of 2001 we became
pregnant again with another little girl but this time she had such severe heart
problems that we only made it to the 11th week of my pregnancy. We later found
out that she had a chromosome problem called Turner's Syndrome. She only had
one X chromosome instead of the two.

I feel like I have ran through the last year of our life but if I go into
detail you will all be reading for weeks. Needless to say we were very happy
to see the year 2001 go away. We are hoping for a better 2002.
