Hi all and thanks for all the kind words and thoughts, I save them all.
Actually after the funeral I cut and paste all of your heartfelt condolences
and made a book up had it bound and shared it with my family. All so
special to me, as you guys truly get it. Rebecca's first angle day went ok,
Mark was home on a PA day ( getting on the bus at 6 pm) Glenn had to work
as he needed today off to attend Mark's transition planning meeting ( shows
parental support for both of us to be there, plus I hate the drive, nasty
piece of highway ) as well as we are going away again on Friday so he
really could not take the 5th off. Since Mark was home the day was filled
with appointments for him, chiropractor and orthodontist, then we had to go
and sign our wills ( changes to be made since we lost Bec and we are going
away and I procrastinate) its hard reading your will on the day your
daughter died :0( Since Mark was going back to school at 6 and Glenn was
working 3-11 I had arranged with a friend of mine to come over and sit in
the hot tub and drink wine. Of course it was way to cold with -20 C weather
to go in the tub and not long after my friend arrived another friend and her
daughter showed up ( hadn't seen them since the funeral, but that's the way
she is, blows in and stays long and then you don't see her, but that's ok,
she is a good friend, actually started as a worker for Bec about 10 yrs ago)
they stayed until 2 am! We remembered and looked at pictures and it was
good as the girl who I had invited over only knew Bec briefly but is a good
friend but more recent ( I work with her) all and all I am glad the "year
of firsts" is over.......still cant believe she is gone some days, ie it
just feels like she is at school. We miss her deeply. Mark will be
returning from the school for learning disabilities to a local school in the
fall and he will be attending the school Rebecca went to which is out of
bounds for him, but it is the best school for him, so this will be hard
going back to the school for me but its best for Mark. I apologize for not
keeping up with the list, mostly I just don't have the energy but you are
all in my heart and in my thoughts, I do read some of the posts, mostly the
original post, sometimes all if I have the energy but I do keep you all in
my heart and in my thoughts
On a funny note at this meeting today the head of Special ED at the school
Mark will be going to (the school Bec went to) was telling the staff from
the school Mark is at how they will have 5 Learning and life skills classes
next year and how having the developmentally challenged kids in the high
school of 1200 "softens" the high school, and talking about the lunch
buddies program, they pair up the LLS kids with the typical kids for lunch
once a week, one of the teachers from the school Mark is at asked Mark if he
would be interested in this program, now remember the school he is at knows
that Mark's sister died and that she was disabled but really not to the
extent that she was disabled and that when Mark thinks of kids with
disabilities he thinks of Bec. The look on Mark's face was priceless! If I
could have read his mind it would be saying "I LIVED WITH THIS FOR 13 YEARS
ALL MY LIFE DO I WANT TO DO IT ON MY LUNCH HOUR?" made me smile as quite
a few of the kids are on the "almost normal " range and Mark would probably
enjoy it so we will talk about it and we will see and not push anything.
Susan mom to Rebecca t18m 06/06/91 - 05/02/06 and Mark age 14 1/2 ADD/LD (
and it is so weird changing Mark's age to older but keeping Bec's the same)
