Talking of genetic screening, dunno if anyone clocked the recent study into the 
prenatal testing for DOWNS syndrome in the UK.  They've now discovered that 
despite having a much higher rate of detection of Downs during pregnancy, there 
are a far higher number and proportion of children born with Downs now in the 
UK than ten years ago.  Turns out that families are now ACTIVELY choosing to 
continue pregnancies with Downs because of the success of public education 
about Downs Syndrome.  So essentially the whole purpose of the system, to 
screen these babies out, has BACKFIRED!  A HA HA HA HA HA.  Apparently they 
were so surprised they then went and INTERVIEWED all the families.  Lets just 
hope this is a trend!  It does prove I believe in my heart of hearts that 
DESPITE attempts at social engineering, eventually society will make up its own 
mind.  And I'm damn sure the world is a better place for all these wonderful 
children that ten years ago might never have been born.
